Imagine
Something I saw while working yesterday made reference to John Lennon’s “Imagine,” which you may know as one of the best songs ever written.
Some other things I see while working almost every day call for restrictions on free speech, which you may know as one of the worst thoughts ever thunk.
These things combined made me think about the 2001 “Clear Channel memorandum,” which contained a list of 165 songs that radio program directors thought were "lyrically questionable" to play following the 9/11 attacks.
If you’ve forgotten about that, or don’t recall all the details, or just never knew, I highly recommend that you give the memo’s Wikipedia page a read.
What a silly world it is sometimes.
There’s a restaurant where I live, all the way over here in Thailand, called Dreamer. I assume it was named after a lyric in “Imagine,” since pictures of Lennon, Joplin, Hendrix, Dylan, et al. hang on the walls. Because words travel, like the sun and the wind, whether you like them or not. So either soak ‘em in or get out of the way.
"you may say I'm a dreamer but I'm not the only one." thank you Brian...for this is one ofmy favorite songs..i used to play it on our piano back in the day.!
